Opposition leader Henrique Capriles is marching through Venezuela's capital accompanied by thousands of supporters as he prepares to formally register his candidacy for the presidency on Sunday.

Capriles' supporters waved red, yellow and blue Venezuelans flags as they flooded the streets of Caracas en route to the headquarters of the National Elections Council.

Capriles has vowed to create employment, fight crime and root out corruption, though most polls show him trailing President Hugo Chavez. Chavez is seeking a new six-year term in office in the Oct. 7 election.
