Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are resuming their intense city rivalry in the Champions League final on a hot and humid Saturday evening at San Siro Stadium.

Two years after Real Madrid won a record-extending 10th European title against Atletico, the teams play again for the most coveted trophy in club soccer.

Atletico aims to become European champion for the first time. It was denied by last-minute equalizing goals on both previous trips to the final, first by Bayern Munich in 1974 before being routed in a replay.

In 2014, veteran Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos scored with a header in the third minute of stoppage time to force extra time, when superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale scored in a 4-1 win.
