Cambodian authorities say a property developer wanted by Russia for allegedly embezzling millions of dollars has been arrested in Cambodia, where he was living.

Chhay Sinarith, chief of the Information Department at Cambodia's Interior Ministry, says Russian national Sergei Polonsky was arrested by Cambodian police Monday morning in the southern coastal town of Sihanoukville.

Sinarith says Cambodia arrested Polonsky in response to a request by the Russian government. He says Polonsky will be sent to Russia, but an extradition date has not been set.

The real estate tycoon was charged in Russia earlier this year for allegedly embezzling more than 5.7 billion rubles ($175 million) from some 80 property investors.

The International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol, added Polonsky to its "red list" of internationally wanted criminals last week.
