A close friend of British Prime Minister David Cameron has been found dead in a portable toilet at the Glastonbury music festival.

Cameron said he was devastated to hear of the death of Christopher Shale, who had also chaired Cameron's West Oxfordshire constituency's Conservative Association. Cameron said Shale was a "close and valued friend."

Local police confirmed his death but did not pick up the phone when The Associated Press called for further details. It was not immediately clear how Shale died on Sunday.

The Glastonbury festival is a fixture of Britain's music calendar, attracting about 170,000 people to the farm in southwestern England.. The lineup includes sets by U2, Morrissey, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay, Beyonce and others. play
