SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina -- Officials say a man hurled six hand grenades at police and court officials when they tried to evict him from his house, injuring a court official.
Police said Friday Vojin Galic threw the grenades from the second floor of the house in the northwestern town of Banja Luka. Only two of them went off. Galic then surrendered to police.
Galic, an ethnic Serb, refuses to abandon the house, claiming he acquired it legally through an exchange of property contract with its Muslim Bosniak owners. The owners, however, have since asked the court to declare the contract void.
The contract was signed during Bosnia's 1992-95 war when non-Serbs were systematically persecuted in Banja Luka. By the end of the war, hardly any were left in the town.
The local court has accepted the owners' request and ordered Galic out.
