Iraqi officials say two separate bombings have killed at least five people.

The deadliest attack Wednesday took place in the city of Kirkuk, some 290 kilometers (180 miles) north of Baghdad.

Kirkuk deputy police chief Maj. Gen. Torhan Abdul-Rahman Youssef says a parked car bomb in the city center killed three civilians and wounded eight.

The provincial health directorate chief, Sidiq Omar Rasool, confirmed the casualty figures.

The second blast took place in the town of Tarmiyah, some 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Baghdad.

In that attack, a police officer says a suicide bomber rammed his motorcycle into a police patrol, killing two policemen and wounding eight people.

A medical official confirmed the casualty figures.

Both spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to release information.
