PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Police say a roadside bomb has killed a police officer and wounded three others in northwest Pakistan.

Police official Shafiullah Khan said the bomb was detonated by remote control Friday as officers patrolled in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where floods have affected millions of people in recent weeks.

No one immediately claimed responsibility, but militants often carry out such attacks to avenge government operations against them in the country's tribal regions bordering Afghanistan.
