An explosion was heard near Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday, but law enforcement sources said it was a "controlled industrial explosion" unrelated to the World Cup.
The explosion was heard at the Main Press Center, 1,300 feet from the stadium, followed by a shockwave, causing some confusion.
