Bahrain's 80-year-old prime minister has been released from the hospital after undergoing tests and has attended a Cabinet meeting.

The state-run Bahrain News Agency on Monday described the tests Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa underwent as "successful," without elaborating. The news agency reported late Friday that Al Khalifa was admitted to the hospital for unspecified medical tests.

Al Khalifa has served as Bahrain's prime minister since 1970. He is the uncle of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, whose Sunni family controls most senior government posts in the predominantly Shiite country.
