Austria's President Jumps From Plane
VIENNA -- Austria's president was in free fall -- and no, it was not about a loss in popularity.
President Heinz Fischer's office has released a video of the 73-year-old head of state jumping in tandem from a military helicopter and dangling from a parachute after what his office says was a 50-second free fall before safely touching down.
The jump took place in September during a military exercise, and Fischer -- the commander in chief of Austria's military -- clearly enjoyed it.
"My view of Austria from nearly 12,500 feet took my breath away and our soldiers ... are really great guys," he told Wednesday's edition of the weekly News.
