Iraqi officials say attacks in Baghdad and elsewhere in the country have killed at least eight people.

A police officer says gunmen in two SUVs opened fire, killing two policemen and a civilian who were traveling in a civilian car in Baghdad's eastern Baladiyat neighborhood. He says that attack also wounded two other civilians.

Another police officer says a bomb struck an outdoor market in Taji, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) north of Baghdad, killing three civilians and wounding eight. He says another bombing at a market, this one in Baghdad's southern Abu Disher neighborhood, killed two civilians and wounded 11.

Medical officials confirmed the casualty figures in Monday's attacks. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to talk to reporters.
