Al Qaeda attack kills 1 Yemeni, injures French expert

SANAA, Yemen – A Yemeni security official says an Al Qaeda attack has killed a soldier and wounded a French oil expert.

The official said Tuesday that Al Qaeda militants attacked two vehicles carrying Yemeni troops and the French expert outside the central town of Sayoun in Hadramawt province, about 350 miles southeast of the capital Sanaa.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
