Police say six officers were slightly injured in a second night of clashes with protesters supporting squatters in Spain's northeastern port city of Barcelona.

A Catalonia police spokesman said some 200 demonstrators overturned 12 street trash containers and set one alight in the disturbances late Tuesday. No arrests were made.

The protesters want squatters allowed back inside a vacant bank branch they occupied for years and used as a "community center" until they were evicted Monday.

Fourteen officers and a detained demonstrator were injured in confrontations Monday night when police baton-charged protesters who threw rocks and set containers and vehicles ablaze.

The officer spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity in keeping with police regulations.

The protesters have pledged to hold five consecutive nights of demonstrations.
