5.8-magnitude quake shakes Peru's capital; no immediate reports of injuries or damage

LIMA, Peru – A moderate earthquake has shaken Peru's capital, with no immediate reports of injuries.

Peru's Geophysics Institute measured Friday evening's quake at 5.8 magnitude. It was centered about 50 miles (77 kilometers) southwest of Lima and was about 22 miles (35 kilometers) deep.

The tremor struck at 7:18 p.m. local time.
