PORT LOUIS, Mauritius – Authorities have charged three hotel employees after an Irish woman was slain on her honeymoon in Mauritius.
Britain's Press Association reported that two men who worked at the luxury Legends Hotel where Michaela Harte was killed have been charged with murder. A third suspect was charged Wednesday with conspiracy to murder.
The 27-year-old Irish teacher died just two days after arriving on the Indian Ocean island nation.
Authorities told the Press Association she had been dragged into the bath tub and strangled before the water was turned on. A hotel key had been used to enter her room.
She was the daughter of a prominent manager in Gaelic football, Mickey Harte, and had married Gaelic footballer John McAreavey on Dec. 30.
