A woman, who had moments earlier stepped off an incoming flight, gave birth to a baby boy at Baltimore's airport Sunday.

After receiving reports of a woman in labor about 2:20pm at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, police and the airport's fire and rescue department responded, The Baltimore Sun reported.

BWI spokesman Jonathan Dean said the woman delivered the healthy baby on the floor of a restroom in the airport's D Concourse with the help of an officer.

Dean said he could not remember another occasion where someone had given birth at the airport and it offered passengers some extra excitement on one of the busiest travel days of the year.

The woman and the newborn were transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, Md. Her identity was not disclosed.
