A 23-year-old Ukrainian man accused of faking his way through a Pennsylvania high school and having sex with an underage girl is asking a judge to change his bail and faces a preliminary hearing on a charge he lied in applying to a citizens' police academy.

Artur Samarin has been in a jail since last month, accused of identity theft and statutory sexual assault. He has a bail hearing at the county courthouse Thursday morning and a preliminary hearing a few hours later on charges of identity theft and unsworn falsification.

Authorities say he identified himself as Asher Potts as he became a model high school student.

Police allege he'd already attended two years of college in Ukraine by the time his tourist visa expired in 2013.

His bail in the sexual assault case is set at $200,000.
