An official says a wildfire threatening a rugged West Texas resort has not crossed the lines built to stop it and firefighters are making progress.

Texas Forest Service spokeswoman April Saginor said late Wednesday that the fire jumped outside the lines in two places but was quickly controlled. She says the fire is "holding, but we are not out of the woods."

Firefighters also focused on protecting structures in the Davis Mountains Resort by clearing brush and setting up sprinklers and hoses near the houses in case the fire approaches.

No damage or injuries have been reported from the fires, which have burned about 24,000 acres. Saginor says the Livermore Ranch fire, the one threatening the resort, was 40 percent contained. The Spring Mountain fire remained 60 percent contained.
