EMP, Texas - A North Texas father is facing a murder charge after deputies say he shot his drunken son during a fight.

The victim, 23-year-old Tyler Reed Sides, died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen on Sunday.
Kaufman County Sheriff's deputies said earlier in the day, Kemp resident Marcus Russell Sides, 50, was arguing with his son Tyler after the younger man had been drinking heavily.

Tyler became very belligerent with his mother, according to Kaufman County Sheriff's public information officer Pat Laney, and spit on the woman several times.

During the scuffle, Marcus Sides allegedly shot his son in the abdomen.

Tyler was taken to a Kaufman hospital, then transferred to a Dallas trauma center, where he later died.
