The last trace of a 26-year-old Texas man who disappeared more than three years ago is a disturbing 911 call.

Brandon Lawson called 911 after running out of gas on a highway in San Angelo, Tex., and getting into some sort of trouble, NBC 5 Dallas reported. He was last seen on Aug. 8, 2013.

“Yes, I'm in the middle of a field (inaudible) pushed some guys over, right here going toward Abilene, on both sides,” Lawson says, according to a transcript of the call. “My truck ran out of gas, there's one car here, the guy's chasing (inaudible) to the woods, please hurry!”

He also says, according to the transcript, “We're not talking to him (inaudible) I told you I ran into em...that's the first guy.”

The station reported that when the 911 operator asks Lawson if he needs an ambulance, he replies, “No. I need the cops.”

The station reported that Lawson hasn’t been heard from since.

His girlfriend Ladessa Lofton and their four kids are still struggling with his disappearance.

“Each day they ask me why isn't my dad at my birthday party, why is my dad not here for Thanksgiving, why is my dad not going to be here for Christmas?” Lofton told the station. “My son asked Santa, he wants his daddy for Christmas.”

Police found Lawson’s truck where he ran out of gas.

The spot is pretty desolate, the station reported.

“There's nowhere to go out there, pitch dark one in the morning, his cellphone battery dies so he had no flashlight, it's rocky cactus terrain out there,” Lawson’s father Brad Lawson told the station. “If he had fell down or something we would have found him in a search.”

The disappearance is under investigation by the Texas Rangers.
