A Texas judge has sentenced a 52-year-old man to life in prison after the man's ninth conviction for drunken driving, MyFoxAustin.com reported.

Bobby Joe Stovall was driving his truck on July 3, 2009, when he crossed several lanes of traffic without yielding to oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle. A female passenger in his truck, who had a blood-alcohol level of 0.38 percent, was injured and hospitalized. Stovall had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.32 percent, four times the legal limit in Texas.

Stovall had an extensive criminal background, including a 1994 conviction for home burglary, a 1987 conviction for credit card abuse, a 1994 conviction for possession of a controlled substance and numerous convictions for theft, driving while license was suspended and making alcohol available to a minor.
