Body of Missing Maryland Boy Found?
Police believe remains found are those of missing 11-year-old William McQuain
Maryland police said Tuesday they have found human remains believed to be those of a missing 11-year-old boy whose mother was murdered earlier this month, MyFoxDC.com reports.
According to police, the remains were found Tuesday morning in a wooded area near Clarksburg, Md., about 27 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. Forensic work at the scene of the discovery was ongoing but authorities believe the remains are those of William McQuain.
Jane McQuain's body was found on Oct. 12 at her apartment in Germantown, Md., 30 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., after an acquaintance told police she had not been seen for two weeks.
The Montgomery County's Chief Medical Examiner said that McQuain, 51, died of blunt force trauma and stab wounds.
Her estranged husband, Curtis Lopez, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with her death on Oct. 13.
Police later issued an Amber Alert for her son William, who authorities say last attended school on Sept. 30.
McQuain's ex-boyfriend told The Associated Press last week that she had told him recently that she feared for her safety and worried that Lopez might harm her.
