LEVITTOWN, Pa. -- Authorities in suburban Philadelphia say a man who allegedly threatened to shoot his wife or himself about a year and a half ago has critically injured her in a shooting and then committed suicide.

Police in Bucks County say the shooting happened at about 8 p.m. Thursday in the couple's Bristol Township home.

Lt. Terry Hughes says 51-year-old Mary Todd was shot in the head with a .380-caliber handgun. A second shot hit the wall.

Fifty-one-year-old Edward Todd II died, and Hughes says the coroner ruled the death suicide by gunshot wound to the head.

Police said an adult daughter fled with her child when she saw the handgun.

According to court records, the husband had threatened to shoot his wife or himself in November 2010 if she sought divorce.
