An Ohio teenager convicted of raping a woman along a street in broad daylight has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Anferney Fontenet (FAHN'-teh-neht) was 15 in January when the woman said he threatened her with a pair of scissors, raped her and took her phone.

The now 16-year-old Fontenet pleaded no contest last month to rape and aggravated robbery in the Toledo attack and was found guilty by a Lucas County judge.

After Tuesday's sentencing, the victim told The Blade newspaper she had pushed for the maximum 20 years but that 18 was "not bad." She noted that Fontenet would not be released early.

The teen apologized in court. His lawyer said Fontenet suffered a severe head injury as a child and has struggled with mental health issues.
