An Ohio man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for trying to kill a friend with a bow and arrow as he slept.

A judge in Cincinnati on Tuesday gave 57-year-old Harry Spivey the maximum sentence on his Nov. 15 guilty plea to attempted murder.

Prosecutors say Spivey shot Samuel "Doug" Stacey three times on Sept. 7 with hunting arrows. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports 50-year-old Stacey was hit in the spine, lung and wrist and has had numerous surgeries.

Authorities say the two men were friends and that Stacey let Spivey stay with him after Spivey lost his home. They say Spivey fled after the shooting and later turned himself in to police in McDonough, Ga.
