An Ohio military veteran and his fiancee say thieves broke into their home and stole Christmas presents and other items while they were at a hospital for their son's birth.

WBNS-TV reports that a relative called Tom Sheehan and Tonya Verduga at the hospital after finding their Columbus home in shambles. The couple's son was born Tuesday.

Sheehan says TVs, a laptop, jewelry and Christmas presents they had bought for Verduga's two older sons were all stolen.

Sheehan says he is angry but is focusing on getting the house cleaned up for the baby and trying to come up with gifts for the children. Sheehan returned in August from his third tour of duty in Iraq.

Columbus police are investigating.
