HENDERSON, Nev. -- A police sting targeting adult ads on Craigslist.com has ended with the arrest of a Nevada police officer on charges of soliciting an undercover police officer for sex.
The Metro's Vice Unit says it arrested the 34-year-old Henderson police officer, Michael Stevens, in the parking lot of a local PT's Pub last weekend.
Lt. Karen Hughes of Metro's Vice Detail declined to go into detail about the Craigslist connection that led to the arrest.
Stevens was arrested on two counts of soliciting. He told investigators he was working as a vice detective.
In 2009 more than 5,700 people were arrested for Vice-related offenses in Metro's jurisdiction. So far this year, the number is just over 2,800.
