An analysis by the New York City Council finds that Donald Trump's lightning-rod proposals to deport illegal immigrants and temporarily ban Muslims could hurt the local economy.

The analysis finds that the proposals could cost New York state more than $800 million and New York City more 340,000 jobs.

City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito is expected to unveil the findings on Wednesday and say that "the city's economy would shrink because of Donald Trump." Mark-Viverito is a Democrat who supports Hillary Clinton.

She also is slated to blast the presumptive Republican nominee's immigration plans "as racist fear-mongering proposals."

A copy of Mark-Viverito's remarks was provided to The Associated Press in advance of her speech.

A Trump campaign spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
