NEW YORK – Members of a New York family have testified against Palestinian authorities in a $1 billion lawsuit about how their world was altered after a 2002 suicide bombing in Israel.
Mark Sokolow and his family testified Monday in the lawsuit brought by victims of terrorist attacks in Israel.
The Sokolow family was living in Woodmere, New York, when the parents and two daughters went to visit a third daughter in Jerusalem.
A bomb went off as the parents and two daughters were leaving a shoe store.
They suffer from lingering shrapnel wounds, are sensitive to loud noises and have flashbacks.
The mother began testifying Monday afternoon.
The defense denies officials were privy to the attacks. It says victims' experiences are not relevant to the question of responsibility.
