A New York mom was arrested after she allegedly encouraged a schoolyard fight between her 12-year-old daughter and another student and then joining the brawl herself.
Daphne Melin, 32, of Long Island, told the New York Post that her daughter was being cyberbullied and threatened by other students on Facebook.
Police say Melin’s daughter arranged a confrontation at the school Sunday with one of the students. But at the designated time, the other student didn’t show up, so her 12-year-old friend stepped in while Melin allegedly egged the two on to fight.
After the pair tussled, Melin then allegedly attacked another girl who was watching, kicking her in the head and neck, the Post reports. The incident was recorded on video.
Melin was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and attempted assault. She was released on bail.
