A Philadelphia woman accused of doing nothing as her boyfriend beat her 4-year-old daughter to death has been sentenced to four to eight years in prison.

Josephita Brown pleaded guilty two years ago to conspiracy, involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment in the 2013 death of her daughter.

Prosecutors say she covered up for her boyfriend, Edward Golphin, as he repeatedly abused her daughter.

Seanita Brown died after a severe beating caused massive internal bleeding. Golphin was charged with first-degree murder, but a jury convicted him of third-degree murder.

Brown faced lesser charges in exchange for her testimony against him.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports (http://bit.ly/1Td618r ) Brown was shaking in court Friday.

She said in a statement read by her lawyer that she cries herself to sleep every night over her daughter.
