The family of a 37-year-old St. Louis area woman who authorities believe fatally shot her three daughters then killed says she herself suffered from depression and had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Christine Adewunmi's family said in a statement Monday that though depressed, she had been a devoted mother whose children were "the number one priority in her life."

Authorities said Adewunmi shot and killed her three daughters, ages 8, 6 and 3, and then shot herself at a riverside campground near Bourbon, Mo. Their bodies were found Saturday on a gravel road.

Christine's husband, Leonard Adewunmi, reported her missing Friday. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that he told police she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and that he feared she was suicidal.
