A Mexican official says a girl claiming to be Alondra Diaz has turned herself in to a court that previously sent another girl against her will to the United States in a child custody case.

An official of the court system in western Michoacan state says a girl claiming to be Alondra showed up at the court building Monday accompanied by three relatives.

The official was not authorized to be quoted by name. She said the court was evaluating the girl's paperwork and identity documents.

Last month, a judge erroneously sent another girl named Alondra to be reunited with Houston resident Dorotea Garcia.

Garcia is believed to be the mother of Alondra Diaz, whose father took her to live in Mexico in 2007 without her mother's consent.
