U.S. stocks are opening slightly higher as more companies turn in healthy earnings reports.

Paper products maker Kimberly-Clark gained 5 percent in early trading Tuesday after its income and revenue easily beat analysts' forecasts. Fifth Third Bancorp also rose after releasing better-than-expected results.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 46 points, or 0.3 percent, to 18,084.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose seven points, or 0.3 percent, to 2,107. The Nasdaq composite climbed 25 points, or 0.5 percent, to 5,020.

The price of oil fell 21 cents to $56.17 a barrel in New York.

Government bond prices fell. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note rose to 1.90 percent.
