A lifelike outdoor sculpture of a man sleepwalking in nothing but his underpants is causing a stir at Wellesley College from students who say it's frightening.

The sculpture is of a man in an eyes-closed, zombie-like trance. It's part of an exhibit by sculptor Tony Matelli at a college museum.

The Boston Globe (http://bo.st/1kcwSkC ) reports that its placement in a busy area of campus on Monday prompted more than 100 students at the prestigious women's school to sign an online petition to have it removed.

The sculpture is a "source of apprehension, fear, and triggering thoughts regarding sexual assault" for many, according to the petition.

Museum director Lisa Fischman wrote on the school website that the sculpture has succeeded in its goal of provoking discussion.
