An attorney for a Chicago woman convicted in Indonesia of killing her mother says she is considering giving her baby to a local family to raise until she is released from prison.

Heather Mack and her boyfriend Tommy Schaefer were convicted in April of killing Sheila von Wiese-Mack last August while vacationing in Bali. Schaefer was sentenced to 18 years in prison and Mack to 10 years. Mack gave birth to the couple's daughter in March.

The Chicago Tribune reports that attorney Michael Elkin confirmed Tuesday that the 19-year-old Mack may have a local family care for the baby who currently lives with her in prison.

Mack told WMAQ-TV she would never leave her daughter and she wants to make sure the baby's physical, emotional and mental needs are met.
