A building collapse in Philadelphia that killed six people and injured 13 has brought swift and mounting fallout.

Philadelphia is inspecting hundreds of demolition sites, the first of what could be several lawsuits has been filed, and a criminal investigation appears to be underway.

Rescuers on Thursday ended their painstaking search for survivors and victims.

The four-story building toppled onto an attached Salvation Army thrift shop Wednesday morning, trapping employees and others. The dead included a woman working her first day at the store.

A lawsuit filed late Thursday seeks financial damages on behalf of a woman who was buried in rubble but survived. Her attorney, Robert Mongeluzzi, says the demolition contractor violated numerous federal safety rules.
