Tropical Depression Laura is making its way east after battering states like Louisiana and Texas -- and now leaders in some communities there are warning it could take weeks for life to return to anything resembling normalcy.

Nearly 700,000 people remain without power in the region as officials and residents continue to inspect the damage inflicted by the storm. President Trump is expected to head to the Gulf Coast region to survey the damage himself this weekend.
