A community that has mourned two Las Vegas police officers killed by a couple on a shooting rampage two weeks ago will gather again to eulogize a 31-year-old man hailed as a hero for dying while trying to stop the rampage.

Joseph Wilcox's memorial is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday at Palm Downtown Mortuary on Main Street.

Wilcox went for his own legal and concealed handgun after the assailants killed Officers Igor Soldo and Alyn Beck at a nearby pizza shop and walked into a Wal-Mart, fired a shot in the air, and declared the start of a revolution.

Police say Wilcox moved toward one assailant, but never fired a shot before the other shot him dead.

Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie declared that Wilcox died trying to protect others.
