WASHINGTON --Some $300,000 is headed to Arizona in the form of federal grants aimed at helping former veterans who did time.

Labor Secretary Hilda Solis said the grants will help open doors back into the workplace for veterans.

The Labor Department said the Incarcerated Veterans Transition Program grants are intended to provide referral and counseling services to assist in reintegrating formerly incarcerated veterans into meaningful employment within the labor force.

Grants of $4 million will be available to 1,400 formerly incarcerated vets across the nation.
Arizona Women's Education and Employment of Phoenix will be getting grant money locally.
