ATLANTA – Chelsea Clinton says more opportunities are needed to engage a younger generation in community service.
Clinton spoke Monday to about 5,000 people gathered for the "Service Unites" conference sponsored by the Points of Light Foundation in Atlanta.
Clinton serves as vice-chair of the Clinton Foundation started by her father, former President Bill Clinton. She has been active in bringing awareness on global health and disease issues.
Clinton says it's important "our government at the local, state and national level are ensuring that service opportunities continue to expand and not contract or flat line."
Clinton adds community service can also help young job applicants gain employment and says she supports efforts to allow more college graduates to reduce their student loan debt through volunteering.
