HOUSTON -- A Houston woman convicted of killing her abusive husband in 2003 by stabbing him 193 times has had her prison sentence reduced to 20 years.

KTRK-TV reports that a Houston district court jury shaved five years off the 34-year-old woman's 25-year sentence.
Last year the Texas Court of Appeals threw out her original sentence saying that her trial lawyers had failed to present witness testimony that bolstered her claims of domestic abuse.

Prosecutors say Wright was lying and wanted to cash in her husband's insurance benefits.

Wright's murder conviction stands.

Brian Wice, her pro-bono appellate lawyer, says Wright has served six years and eight months, and that she will be eligible for parole in three years and four months.
