The father of a missing 12-year-old Missouri girl has said that searchers found her body Wednesday afternoon, though authorities said it would take up to 24 hours to confirm the identity of the body.

Fox4KC.com reported that one of Adriaunna Horton's grandmothers had also said that the body was her granddaughter's.

Adriaunna Horton had been missing since Monday afternoon, when she disappeared from a park in her hometown of Golden City, in the southwest part of the state. She had gone there with friends to celebrate the first day of school.

Police have arrested 34-year-old Bobby Bourne and charged him with kidnapping. Based on testimony from the girl's friends, authorities allege that Bourne lured Adriaunna into his car by telling her that he was looking for his missing daughter and needed her help. When police stopped Bourne 90 minutes later, the girl was not with him.
