WAUKESHA, Wis. – The family of a 12-year-old Wisconsin girl who was repeatedly stabbed says she's been walking the halls of a hospital and watching TV in her wheelchair.
Two other 12-year-old girls who are her classmates have been charged with trying to kill her by stabbing her 19 times Saturday.
A fundraising website set up by the victim's family says she's a "fighter" and is improving every day. Her parents say they've been trying to limit visitors because she becomes overwhelmed easily..
The parents expressed appreciation for support from the community. The family is asking for homemade purple hearts with encouraging messages to put up in the girl's room.
Her classmates told detectives the attack was an attempt to please Slender Man, a fictional character they found on a horror website.
