CLEVELAND – An expert hired by the family of a 12-year-old boy shot to death by Cleveland police last year says the boy's hands were in his pockets when he was shot and he wasn't reaching for the pellet gun he was carrying.
Shooting reconstruction expert Jesse Wobrock based his conclusions on physical evidence and a review of a frame-by-frame depiction of surveillance footage showing the November 2014 shooting of Tamir Rice.
Wobrock also says officer Timothy Loehmann shot Tamir within 1 second of opening his patrol car door and that Tamir couldn't have heard commands to show his hands because the car's windows were up.
Attorneys for Tamir's family released the analysis late Friday. Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County Prosecutor Tim McGinty said Saturday all credible evidence will be reviewed.
