U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended a Canadian man Monday dressed in scuba gear who was smuggling marijuana from Canada via the St. Clair River in Michigan, the agency said.

The Detroit News reported that the diver, who was not immediately identified, was discovered at 1 a.m. swimming across the river near Marine City, which sits along the river.

The swimmer was discovered pulling an 8-pound bag of marijuana in a sealed cylinder by surveillance from a nearby Air Force base, the report said.
