Authorities say tactical teams entered a detention center in Raymond and met no resistance as they brought an inmate disturbance under control Monday.

Sheriff Tyrone Lewis says the disturbance involved about 150 inmates who were evacuated from the affected pod at the Hinds County Detention Center and sent to other jails. He says the center, which has about 600 beds throughout the complex, remained on lockdown.

Lewis says a 25-year-old inmate allegedly broke out of isolation about 2:30 a.m. Monday, starting the disturbance that led to inmates flooding cells and causing other damage. The sheriff reported no serious injuries, but says one jailer was checked out at a hospital as a precaution.

He says the tactical teams searched Monday afternoon for any weapons inmates may have hidden during the disturbance.
