An Alabama family is fighting to keep a pet deer despite a state law that prohibits wild animals as pets.

WKRG-TV reports that Bambi the deer was taken to a wildlife sanctuary 50 miles from where she was raised in Wilmer by Kenneth Webster and his family. But the deer found her way back home two weeks ago.

Keith Gauldin, with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, said the deer will be confiscated again and taken to another location.

Webster said he found the deer four years ago on the side of the highway after her mother was killed by a car. He said he spends $50 a week feeding the deer fresh fruit and grains.
