GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) — In a story June 2 about a project to bring Iran's health house model to the Mississippi Delta, The Associated Press erroneously reported the Delta region's infant mortality rate as 281 deaths per 1,000. Over a five-year period in the region, there was a total of 281 deaths, according to the Mississippi Department of Health. The infant mortality rate was 13.8 per 1,000 per year.

The story also erroneously reported the Delta's infant mortality rate was 10 times that of Iran's. The Delta's rate is less than Iran's current infant mortality rate in rural areas of 26 per 1,000.
