A California driver on Monday shared dramatic video from inside his SUV when he sped off a windy, narrow road and tumbled down a mountain.

The dashcam video shows the SUV skidding off the road before falling off the ridge in the San Gabriel Mountains. Remarkably, driver Jimmy Shaw said he was not badly hurt.

He posted the video on YouTube one year to the day after the crash. "I'm primarily posting this in an attempt to help others learn from my mistakes. This is a reminder to be safe, pay attention and KNOW THE ROAD before you try to enjoy it," he wrote.

The stretch of mountain road where he crashed had a short barrier to the side, but no guardrail. Shaw wrote he was unaware that his 2004 Subaru Forester XT was quickly approaching a sharp turn, but when somebody on the road tried to flag him down, he couldn't properly react.

"Wondering what they were doing, I stared, and stared, reaching the top of 4th gear, all while trying to comprehend what they were trying to tell me. Then I figured it out. They were telling me to slow down and watch the curve ahead, but it was too late."

Shaw wrote that he'd enjoyed speeding through the tunnels to hear the sounds from his car's exhaust.

He said actor, bodybuilder and Incredible Hulk star Lou Ferrigno was among the rescuers who brought him to safety. Ferrigno told the driver he was so lucky to have survived, he should have played the lottery.
